The Great Old One sees what you did there

Posted April 30th, 2008 at 11:16 am in General by Brand

It’s like a rorschach test or something. I see this beautiful picture of two galaxies merging, and the first thing I think of is how much it looks like the baleful glare of the Great Old Ones . . .

I had a shoggoth

Posted April 29th, 2008 at 1:15 pm in General by Brand

Paul Fischer and the Podcast Tribe pointed out this, written by Tom Smith to the tune of a child’s song, with lots of villains from writing, TV and Film. Since it features Shuggoth and the Great Old One Cthulhu, I thought it only proper to post the link here.

Cthulhu Cake and sick Pix

Posted April 29th, 2008 at 7:29 am in General by Brand

Boing Boing had a post recently about a person who made their own Cthulhu-based Cake. Now, being a troll for Cthulhu media, I’ve seen my share of Cthulhu cakes, but this one is quite impressive.

By the way, why is it no one makes a Cthulhu cake out of Angel’s Food cake? It seems the irony alone would be worth the price.

Also, My Confined Space comes through for us again with another great Cthulhu pic.

Sigh, he always looks skinny these days. It just doesn’t fit with my view of the Big C.

Cthulhu at Hasbro

Some guys at UCBComedy sent me a link to this video, where Cthulhu visits Hasbro, to re-negotiate the Ouija board usage.

Cthulhu appears in Monster Miniatures game.

Posted April 17th, 2008 at 1:15 pm in General by Brand

From Privateer Press, the new game Monsterpocalypse is a Giant Monster miniatures game (how’s that for incongruous?). Link

The pic of a Cthulhu miniature was a total nerdgasm!

Of course, it’s silly to put the terrible master of mankind, devourer of worlds, in there with bush league wannabes like Godzilla, but what can you do. Some people just won’t accept his glory and greatness until they see it stomping down the street toward them, with the hordes of gibbering masses running before him. . .

Updates

Posted April 9th, 2008 at 3:05 pm in General by Brand

Recently, I was invited to a lunch with a bunch of other local podcasters, and after the lunch, we joined forces to create a couple of ADD podcast episodes. If you’re interested, here is the one with me. Link

Also, If you’re following such things, I am now listed on Twitter (brandg), and I’ll try to keep everybody up to date on the show’s development that way.

More Cthulhu Web Sightings

Posted March 25th, 2008 at 1:04 pm in General by Brand

Much love to the best source for Cthulhu imagery, “My Confined Space”, where we find all these pix:

First, a little green piece of a spindly, angry Cthulhu.

This is a very powerful Lovecraftian scene. They say it’s a book cover. I love the translucent second eyelid.
Here’s another skinny Cthulhu (don’t know why the artists like him skinny) This one looks like a cross between the sculpture from the story “Call of Cthulhu” and Fantasia’s “Night on Bald Mountain”
Here’s a lovely pencil sketch of a new direction for Cthulhu. Feral, in composition, but still identifiably Cthulhu.
This looks like a desktop wallpaper for one of the “Abe’s Oddesey” games.

A very Special Deathday

Posted March 15th, 2008 at 9:57 am in General by Brand

In honor of this date, March 15th, I set aside the current episode, and put together a special short, just for the man himself.

Rest inPeace, you cruel bastard.

Radio Interview on Monday

Posted February 23rd, 2008 at 11:13 am in General by Brand

This coming Monday (2/25/08) I’ve been invited to be a call-in guest for WCSB, a student-run radio station of Cleveland State University. If you’d like to tune in, I should be on there between 3:00-5:00 EST. If you’re not in the area, they stream the station over the internet, which you can find here.

Unfortunately, I’ve been laid up with a bad head cold all week, so I only hope I don’t end up sounding more like Gollum and less like Cthulhu.

I swallow Podcaster’s souls!

Posted February 22nd, 2008 at 5:02 pm in General by Brand

Last weekend I went to FarPoint Con (as mentioned earlier). Everybody there was really friendly, and I was surprised to see how passionately they loved the show. Seriously, I was walking around with the “deer in the headlights” look as people told me over and over how much they loved it.

Anyway, one of the podcasters there (The Command Line) took some pictures, including some of me with the puppet.

Here’s the Flickr set.

One of my personal favorites: When Cthulhu swallows the soul of Tee Morris, the writer of (among other things) “Podcasting for Dummies.”
