Last weekend I went to FarPoint Con (as mentioned earlier). Everybody there was really friendly, and I was surprised to see how passionately they loved the show. Seriously, I was walking around with the “deer in the headlights” look as people told me over and over how much they loved it.
Anyway, one of the podcasters there (The Command Line) took some pictures, including some of me with the puppet.
Here’s the Flickr set.
One of my personal favorites: When Cthulhu swallows the soul of Tee Morris, the writer of (among other things) “Podcasting for Dummies.”

Every year or so, I buy a new laptop. I’m a game programmer, so staying at the top of the line is fairly important to my work (it’s also pretty important for producing the Calls for Cthulhu show).
However, having bought a new laptop, I need to get rid of the old one. As I started setting up the submission to ebay though, I realized that this laptop was more than just one tool among many. This was the computer that I used to make all the “Calls For Cthulhu” episodes. It has sentimental value to me.
Which made me think that it might have sentimental value to you, too. I know I need to sell it, but I’d rather sell it to someone who would enjoy knowing about the C4C history. Also, I could sell it as-is, with all the original source data used to make the show. (Note: I would have to remove all the purchased software, so you would need to install your own version of MAX, Premiere, and whatnot). If you want to see what Cthulhu looks like before chromakeying, if you want to hear the original studio recordings of the show, or if you just want to own a little piece of history, this might just be for you.
It’s a Sony VAIO (Model #VGN-SZ110). It has a 1.8Ghz processor, 2Gig of RAM, and a 100Gig Hard Drive. I just priced a system like it on ebay, and found that this same system with no Hard Drive and only 1Gig of RAM goes for more than $700. With the extra memory and Hard Drive, I would guess that this system will go for $800.
By that rate, this purchase should be a steal. You’re getting more for the money (100gig Hard Drive, and an extra Gig of memory), and you have all the source material for the Calls For Cthulhu show. How would you like to open up the 3D model of Cthulhu’s set, and look around his undersea world? How would you like to see all the other little ideas I have worked up, but never used in the show?
If I can’t find anyone interested, I’ll put it up on ebay. But like I said, I’d rather it went to a user who could appreciate it.

This weekend (in fact, starting today), FarpointCon is going on here in Hunt Valley, MD. I’m planning on going, and I think they will have me on some of the roundtables (about video podcasting and intellectual property). Anyway, it looks like a blast, and if you’re in the area, I hope to see you there. I’ll be the guy with the beard and a “Calls For Cthulhu” T-shirt.

Okay, so he’s not technically trying to be Lovecraftian, but tell me this guy doesn’t make you think of the Greatest Old One.

Good pall Grim D. Reaper (who you may have seen in Episode 8), writes in with cool news about Guillermo del Toro. Those who know his work, know that Del Toro is a huge fan of Lovecraft (he managed to fit quite a lot of Cthulhu into Hellboy), and it looks like he may take on a truly %100 Lovecraft tale by directing “At the Mountains of Madness”.
More details here from D. Reaper.

My Confined Space comes through for us again with some great new Cthulhu images.
This is Cthulhu. A tribal etching kind of image.
Speaking of Tribal etchings,
Tribal Cthulhu. More primitive, more colorful, and I wonder if those symbols mean anything.
For more modern sightings:
Cthulhu Crossing. Beyond time, space, or speed limits.
But perhaps the most cool, cruel, crocheted version is this.

For just $15USD, you can get a real tentacle arm with suction cups and everything!

I’m definitely getting a pair of these.

Sailors take warning. I don’t know if we’ve shown this one before, but My Confined Space has another good Cthulhu image up. This one is a lovely watercolor of Cthulhu watching ships at sunset.
Here’s the link.
I can’t help but think we’ve done this one before. Oh well, it’s still awesome.

As you probably know, I’m a writer in addition to producing this show. Occasionally, I write short stories and I thought I might share one with you. Normally I write Sci-Fi stuff, but this was a comedy piece I wrote in a fantasy vein. It’s called “A moment’s pause” and it will probably be right up your alley if you enjoy D&D.
Hope you like it.

In other news, I am hard at work on Episode 9. I’ve already got half the script written, so it looks like the show’s coming in on time this time.

I appreciate how patient everyone has been. I keep saying that I’m not going to do any special effects, because they slow me down. Then I get a crazy idea that’s too good to let go, and I lose weeks on the new special effects.
Either way, it’s here now, and I hope you enjoy it.
