Own a piece of Calls For Cthulhu history!

Every year or so, I buy a new laptop. I’m a game programmer, so staying at the top of the line is fairly important to my work (it’s also pretty important for producing the Calls for Cthulhu show).

However, having bought a new laptop, I need to get rid of the old one. As I started setting up the submission to ebay though, I realized that this laptop was more than just one tool among many. This was the computer that I used to make all the “Calls For Cthulhu” episodes. It has sentimental value to me.

Which made me think that it might have sentimental value to you, too. I know I need to sell it, but I’d rather sell it to someone who would enjoy knowing about the C4C history. Also, I could sell it as-is, with all the original source data used to make the show. (Note: I would have to remove all the purchased software, so you would need to install your own version of MAX, Premiere, and whatnot). If you want to see what Cthulhu looks like before chromakeying, if you want to hear the original studio recordings of the show, or if you just want to own a little piece of history, this might just be for you.

It’s a Sony VAIO (Model #VGN-SZ110). It has a 1.8Ghz processor, 2Gig of RAM, and a 100Gig Hard Drive. I just priced a system like it on ebay, and found that this same system with no Hard Drive and only 1Gig of RAM goes for more than $700. With the extra memory and Hard Drive, I would guess that this system will go for $800.

By that rate, this purchase should be a steal. You’re getting more for the money (100gig Hard Drive, and an extra Gig of memory), and you have all the source material for the Calls For Cthulhu show. How would you like to open up the 3D model of Cthulhu’s set, and look around his undersea world? How would you like to see all the other little ideas I have worked up, but never used in the show?

If I can’t find anyone interested, I’ll put it up on ebay. But like I said, I’d rather it went to a user who could appreciate it. 🙂

Damn… I wish I could afford it. It’s certainly a lot better than what I’m working with.

  2. Ah, that does sound like a rather nice deal. I’m currently in the process of pondering whether to get a new laptop or get my current one fixed.. Darn screens and their breaking..
